Partners in Relocation is able to provide you with information about the Dutch school system and help you visit schools as well as register your children either in a Dutch school or at an International or semi-International school.
Elementary of primary education is for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Although a child may begin primary education at the age of 4, it is only on its 5th birthday that the child is legally required to attend school.
After primary school children proceed into secondary education. The results of primary school examinations determine which secondary level the child will follow. Secondary education prepares children for their future place in society.
There are 3 types of secondary education
- VMBO (Voortgezet Middelbaar Beroeps Onderwijs) lasts four years. After graduation the student may decide to continue his/her studies at a more advanced level, MBO (Middelbaar Beroeps Onderwijs).
- HAVO (Hoger Algemeen Voortgezet Onderwijs) lasts five years. After graduation the student may decide to continue his/her studies at a more advanced level, HBO (Hoger Beroeps Onderwijs).
- VWO (Voortgezet Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs) lasts six years after which the student may enter University.
Partners in Relocation can also provide information about national and international university courses in the Netherlands.
